The president of my company found this polearm in a flea-market, any idea about it? It is long about 40 cm and thick more than 5mm. Tha blade isn't sharpened and doesn't have any sign of wear or scratches, so I think it's a cerimonial weapon or a decoration.
The socket has a small hole, 2cm wide, and thick "walls".

It's a cerimonial glaive (XVIII sec.), probably from Venezia. Lots of noblemen and important palaces in Italy had guards armed with similar weapons (most to impress) until the beginning of XIX century.
Hi,
they were still in use in France in the 50's by the "church Swiss" during the Catholic ceremonies.
