I am in the process of making my own chainmail and I am having a hard time figuring out multiple dilemmas, I am trying to make it historically accurate for the third crusade to the late 1200s, and the dilemma I am having at the moment is: Did they or did they not, have attached coifs to the hauberk?

From period artwork, it appears that most coifs were integral with the hauberk.
PS: The Third Crusade is late 1100s, not 1200s.

Do you know of any evidence for separate coifs?
And I said the third crusade TO the late 1200s not in the late IN the late 1200's :P
