After reading some of the threads on here, I realized that my knowledge on the medieval period is severely lacking. I love history, I read anything I can about it, but most of my reading has focused on the last 300-400 years.
I'm not completely uneducated in medieval history, I have quite a few "pockets" of information (mostly focused on weaponry,) but I don't really have a good picture of what the medieval period was like.
The reason for this post is this. What would you guys (and girls) recommend to get a better idea of what medieval times were like? I'm looking for books, websites, documentaries, almost anything.
For clarification, by medieval period I mean from the fall of the Roman Empire to the mid-1400s or so.
Thanks!

Maybe it's an obvious answer, but I would recommend taking a look at the various Osprey publications. They are not really scholarly works, but do usually give a reasonably good overview.
