After years of talk, the first of two is finally done. I recently finished the crane head falcata that I started back in the summer. Should have the second, the crow, finished in a month. These falcata blades have been my first major forging project and I am very happy with them. Of course this couldn't have happened without Mark of Ollin Sword design. I sent him some very rough forged blanks and he turned them into something special. Not only did he grind them, he hand scraped in the channels/fullers. His work in this has just been amazing. I think that we easily put in two or three times as much work into these swords as our typical projects together.
The hilt material is antler. The fullers remain dark from the heat treatment. The blade cross section starts off triangular and changes at the false edge to more of an offset lenticular.

Weight- 2 1/2 pounds

A quick little project that I did this fall was a viking period sword on an old del tin blade that I have had for year. It started off as a DT2130, over time I broke it down and reworked the blade. I moved the blade shoulders down and give it more of a lenticular cross section. After sitting around in corners for years, I finally decided that I needed to so something with it. Since it was just a quick project I didn't put all that much time in the finish work of it since it was just something I was going to keep for myself. So nothing fancy, and nothing like the falcata....
The last little side project that I finished this fall was an Irish style la tene shield. Roughly based on the one from Ireland and some depictions from Northern Scotland at the time. It pairs rather nicely with the Lisnacrogher that I finished earlier in the fall.

Beautiful work on all the pieces but the Falcata is really amazing and so rare to see a high end version.  
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!
