Since the Arms Summit hosted by Ollin Sword isn't happening this fall, we decided that we could go back to having a fall gathering down here in Indiana again. We had been trying to make this happen in October, but just couldn't get the dates to work out. Even though we are unsure of what the weather might be like, we are going to hold a gathering on Nov. 7th. Mark from Ollin Sword will be coming down for a few days for sure. Nate Bell will most likely be making the drive up for the weekend as well. Depending on who can make it and what everyone wants to do, we will either be doing a cutting parting, show and tell, and/or a workshop day.

Mark should be finishing up one or two projects around the end of the month and I have at least one falcata finished by then.

Anyone interested in coming can just let me know and I can give you more info.

I would like to come up, if I can arrange the day off and the gas money. It would be good to meet you guys in person Happy . I could bring my Jake Powning anthropomorphic La Tene short sword for show and tell (plus get a chance to cut with my latest Albion). Hope I can make it!

It looks like Notre Dame is home against Navy at 2:30 PM. My wife and I chatted a bit about getting a room and making a weekend out of the visit. I've not checked booking agencies yet but does everything normally fill for a home date?

Edit to add: Gack! Do they ever jack the room rates for home game weekends!!!

Dang it...

When we started planning to have one it was early enough that we weren't thinking about the games yet and then got focused on trying a weekend that would work. Room prices if you can find them are just insane and traffic is horrible at times. If people haven't set their plans already and we could move it to Sunday afternoon, that would work I guess. We'd thought about the weekend before, but figured Halloween wouldn't be good for most people. So I really don't know what to do.

Found out yesterday that Nate likely won't be able to make it since he has his son that weekend.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, we are open to them. *G*

November 14th the Golden Domers are at Pittsburgh.

October 31 they are at San Antonio playing Washington State.

Maybe move it up or back a weekend?

Were we thinking of Sunday the 8th, then? Would this help with the sporting event scheduling issues?

I'm still trying to get things figured out what would be best really. Mike contacted me and said that he is out. So right now we are looking at Mark and Matt from Ollin, Joe, Christopher, and myself. Kind of on the small side, and I would like for it to be worthwhile for you guys making the longer drives. Saturday the 7th or Sunday the 8th either one would work, it just depends on what works best for Joe and Christopher really.

Heck I don't know, maybe if Chad was still thinking of having a fall cutting party we need to try and combine forces.

Sundays are generally good for me, but not 11/8 or 11/15. Sorry!

Hotels are out but there is something that is pretty darn close to being done from the great north and your place has been suggested as a possible central meeting point for its delivery. Big Grin

Saturday seems to be the plan since I didn't hear from anyone about Sunday being a better option. As of now they are calling for sunny and around 50 for the weekend, so it shouldn't be too bad if that is what the weather ends up being.

So have you seen any recent pictures or is Mark making you wait? It looks impressive and interesting...

A couple weeks ago when we called around, most places were close to being full already. That was even at some near by towns.

Is your wife and son going to be coming up as well?

My son would much rather run with his friends. My wide if still up in the air. She works a second shift at Honda (shift ends at 1 AM and she won't be home and relaxed to sleep until ~2:30 AM). S getting her up early enough to get over there on a Saturday at a reasonable time (I figure 4+ hours of drive time) might be a bit of a stretch. Eek!

Sounds like Matt won't be able to come down with Mark afterall. The weather is sounding like it might be pretty nice and be in the upper fifties or sixties.

I think that we can just leave the time open since it is just going to be a few people making longer trips. Mark and I will be around all day messing about anyways.

Christopher are you still going to try and make it?

Joe, I'll send you our new address and directions.

It looks like I wasn't able to come up with the gas funds to make it this weekend. Perhaps the Ohio gather on the 22nd is possible, though. Have a good time, everyone!

Looks like this isn't happening this fall. Maybe next spring.
