Research on vikingcombat
Hello

I´m doing a study on ironage/viking fighting. I´m collecting all sources I can get my hands on. I have started by studing early sources like Roman sources, and I´m also going to study sources from Ironage/viking age and later sources to find clues. I´m fokusing on the use of different weapons in variuos fighting conditions. I´m leaving out battlefield formations and tactics for now.

If you got some tips on book, essays, links or have personal experience on the subject I would be happy if you could email me.

The Hurstwic online resources would probably be worth the effort needed to browse through them:

http://www.hurstwic.org/history/articles/manu...t/arms.htm

and you might want to trade notes with the writer, too.
Two books which might be of interest are Swords of the Viking Age by Ian Peirce, and Vikingarnas Stridskonst by Lars Magnar Enoksen.
And, if I may be permitted, I'd also suggest my new book, published earlier this year: Viking Weapons and Combat Techniques, available from your favorite bookseller, or any of the on-line book stores.

Best regards,
William Short
Many thank for your answers guys.

Viking Weapons and Combat and Vikingarnas stridskonst are two of the books that got me started on the projekt.
