Brett,
I think you are thinking of a coat of plates, which is not an early brigandine but a different type of armoured defense. In either case if he's aiming for a late 15th century kit (which it looks like from his choices) Neither a coat of plates or a Churburg 13 breastplate are appropriate.
Wasn´t there a brigandine symposium a few years ago in Northern Italy where tehy concluded that it would be best to call all a brigandine?
Felix,

I have never heard that but I would disagree. I am not sure the horizontal and vertical COPs even developed along the same lines, let alone later brigs.

I like the way clang did this one hell I like how clang does most of his armor to bad i'm so poor or I'd buy more of it :D

Ja, maybe I am just messing things up. The Sympsium was at Schloss Tirol, will try to get a copy of the proceeding.
would you choose brigandine or plate
Ben,
Your kit is one of the best I have seen. One question I have is, did you use leather or velvet for the outside of the brigandine?
I hope to get one next year and I am thinking of an olive or dark green leather. Also I was thinking brass rivets.

Yes, more of less the period I find myself most drawn to for a number of reasons. :D
Guess for grins I'll note on this thread that Ieventually ended up with a plate kit. Really do need to get all the bits on and take some pictures to post at some point.
