Oh wow, Ben, that's going to be GREAT. I'll have to check out the original so I can see where this one is going to land when it's completed. Amazing detail already... so many cutouts!

I'm pretty excited about this one coming into my harem, This one was picked out of Mazansky's along with the last basket-hilt Eljay made for me the G18d Drummond Castle, Perthshire A21....I just cant believe Swordmeet 2009 will be 7 years of Ejay and I meeting up, time is passing by way to fast which is a good thing when one is looking forward to a new basket! . I hope you make our 2009 Swordmeet this time, I want to check out that tattoo of yours...Eljay it's my turn for lunch so we dont forget this time.

Looks outstanding, BS, I know how exciting it can be to receive progress photos of
a work you're waiting and waiting for. It kinda solidifies the belief that now things are
rolling forward ...

Ben,

Wow -- can't wait to see the photos of the completed sword. Is the blade shown in the photos the one the hilt will be mounted to when complete?

Do you have any photos of the original you can post. I am always amazed at how ElJay is able to capture the look of the original in even the smallest details.

That's a mockup blade that ElJay uses for the hilt, I don't know which blade I'll use that I have on hand, the partial blade in the photo looks like a backsword blade, but I'm probably wrong on that...There is only 1 photo of the original on pg 172 of "British Basket-Hilted Swords" by Cyril Mazansky. I'm always amazed at what ElJay can create from a single photo out of that book! Since the photo of the original is missing the forward guard I cant wait to also see what ElJay comes up with for the forward guard of this one.
