Greetings all,
As a bit of a newcommer to the sword collecting hobbie, I was wondering what regulations, licensing requirements there are for sword collectors/practitioners. Obviously concealment is a no-no, but other than a prohibition against sword canes I cannot find anything or anyone that has been able to tell me what regulations there are here in California. Any clarification you can give would be helpful.

Hi Nate,
I lived and collected in Calif. for about 30 years, and there are no laws regulating the collecting of swords, either antique or modern. There are laws about carrying them in concealed mode, but nothing about carrying them in the open, as far as I know. I've met with collectors in parking lots of Taco Bells (both myself and the other guy were on the road, and Taco Bell was convenient), had police drive by during their lunch, watch us handling swords, and move along. No hassles, no questions.
