I'm researching how someone becomes a knight ... hoping to include it in a book i want to write.
Anyway, there is this one part. When a boy is still a Page the site i found said he first begins to 'Learn the martian arts by learning how to hunt and how to hawk.'
My question is what does 'how to hawk' mean?
any ideas? I tried the mighty google but I could not find anything.

Try looking up "falconry". (Training and using a bird of prey as the hunter.) Using hunting birds and dogs was a great sport in medieval era. Hunting animals were occasionally mentioned as tournament prizes around 13th century. Some illustrated manuscripts depict this, and have had several beautiful remaining examples pictured in at least one previous thread. Attachment: 27.88 KB
