.
Hi all.
I have read of the many ways to care for a sword blade (from WD-40 to machine oil to gun grease); however, when I did a cursory search for the care of a sword with a wire grip in the forum archive, I didn't come across anything. So, I ask what methods have worked for you when maintaining a sword/rapier with an elaborate wire grip. Mine is a A&A Gustav Vasa rapier and I'd hate to see rust get in all the little nooks and crannies in that grip.

Put some Break-Free gun oil on a cleaning patch or paper towel, work it well into the wire and then wipe off the excess. It's a cleaner-lube-preservative and it'll keep the rust away if you reapply it occasionally."History is a set of lies agreed upon."
