Take a look at these magnificent Bronze weapons from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and tell me what you think.
There's a zoom feature by clicking on "Click to zoom".
On the zoom page you can also click on "Click here for full screen image" to get a full page picture.
I especially like the first two Italic weapons below.
Can anyone tell me more about these 2 types of weapons?
Do they fit into a bronze age weapon typology at all?
Sword Italic, Etruscan or Italic, Latin, Orientalizing or Archaic Period, 7th or 6th century B.C.

Dagger and sheath Italic or Levantine, Syrian, Geometric/Latial II, 9th century B.C.

You need to click on the "Click to zoom" link to get the pic for the sword below as it doesn't show on the first page.
Can anyone tell me more about this weapon?
Is it a Naue II Sword? Please excuse my ignorance of Bronze Sword types....
Sword Italic, Bronze Age, Late Bronze Age, about 1300–1200 B.C.

Miniature dagger Nubian, Classic Kerma, about 1700–1550 B.C.

Decorative butcher knife Egyptian, Late Second Intermediate Period, 1630–1539 B.C.

Single-edged Sword Chinese, Han dynasty, 206 B.C.–A.D. 220

You can search for weapons / objects here:
http://www.mfa.org/collections/search_art.asp
Just type into the "Object Name/Title" field using simple terms like sword, knife, dagger, mace, axe etc.
if you want objects with pictures just tick the "Image" box as well.
If anyone has other pics of these objects (especially colour pics of the black and white ones) please post.
Has anyone made replicas of these weapons or similar weapons?
Enjoy
Danny

The one here: http://www.mfa.org/collections/search_art.asp..._accession
In my less-educated opinion, appears to be some kind of Naue style sword. Naue was an Aegean blade, so it wouldn't be too weird if one turns up in Italy, I think.

He's the only bronze caster I know that sells stuff and has a great reputation. Also, if anyone can sort you out, Matt Amnt, Brock H, and Jeroen Z (Still haven't figured his last name out) are very knowledgeable about the bronze age weapons.
