Considering Hanwei's reputation, is it safe to order a sword from the first batch?

Not a polite question- but a reasonable one to ask.

The difference between this line and the Practical line is that for this line Hanwei had a model to work from that was already correct, exacting specifications to meet and they weren't allowed to vary significantly in any detail.

The ones that I have seen and the one that Mike Harris reviewed for SBG forums have been dead-on spec with very good heat treatment and very consistent from sword to sword. The couple of dealers that I have talked to that received them were happy with them. The only complaint so far has been that the edges aren't as sharp as some would like. They still cut, mind you. Another person questioned whether the edge was too fine at the tip on their 'blunt' sword. This issue was addressed in another thread.

Anyway, don't believe me; find one and give it a good looking-over. I am pretty confident that the quality will be up to standard. That doesn't mean you'll like the sword of course; not everyone likes the same thing after all.

No worries Ivan! As I said, it's a reasonable question; I'm actually surprised that no one asked it before.

I ordered the longsword blunt online from Warriors and Wonders (http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/, a shop in Vancouver, British Columbia. I ordered it last Thursday and received it today!

I was expecting something like a 1 - 2 week wait!

Now I'm really looking forward to trying it out at practice tomorrow evening!

cheers!

Pat
