Hi all. I was wondering what kind cross sections seax blades had. How did they compare/contrast to modern reproductions?

Flat, triangular sections, with or without fullers/grooves (depending on which type), no secundary bevels. Early broadsaxes sometimes have convex surfaces. There are quite a few different types of seaxes, so it's important to specify exactly which type of seax (seax is just about as generic as saying double edged sword, without specifying from which period).

There are a few great recent reproductions, but aside from those, they don't compare at all. Eventhough few copy the blade shapes more or less correct, generally the hilts are completely wrong. Check the link in my signature for some photos of originals.
