The differences and similarity of: German Gothic armor, Italian Gothic armor, and other Gothic armor? Also the differences and similarity of: German Sallets, Italian Sallets, and other Sallets.

Can any one tell me? And why are they different types?

Gerald,

Not sure what your question is completely. Italians made armour in german gothic style for export which could look very much like those made in germany. Italian verse german in general is italians prefered smooth and rounded pieces while the germans used very angular and sever lines with fluting. The sallet is a good example. German ones have a long and pointed tail while the italian is usually rounded and close. That said Tobias Capwell's new book shows some interesting new information regarding this overly simplistic comment.

A good article
