Unusual antique piercing dagger bronze with steel/iron core
First ..Hello...I am new here...
I have recently found this dagger. I first thought for a second that it is an early medieval dagger but now I think is not the case. The pommel does not fit any PERIOD ad 1000 TO 1900. Plus the use of bronze covering iron it is very unusual and takes me thinking to the early iron age...but this is in VERY GOOD SHAPE. Please let me know your opinion. Do you think it might be a late Roman period dagger civilian or Byzantine? Iron age? HELP I am going crazy here:-)

Bronze over iron?? Bizarre. It's certainly nothing Roman or late Roman! My guess is that it's Victorian, maybe one of the many "Romanesque" things they made back then, or it could even be part of a flagpole finial or something like that. It could be something modern that's been acid-bathed to age it--I've seen that done to several cheap Indian repro helmets and such. But nothing from ancient times was made that way. Of course, I don't know Asian stuff at all, but...

Wacky! I hope someone has a good answer!
