Hi everyone,
About three months ago I purchased a smallsword identical to the one in the picture. The information I received when buying the sword was that it was French and from around 1760. I'm looking for any further information e.g. makers name (as there are no visible marks on the sword), place of manufacture, etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

Without any makrs/hallmarks it really does make it almost impossible to say with any certainty who might be responsible.
That leaves comparison to others that are often best guesswork identification themselves. Frenck and third quarter of the 18th century looks about right (from my one meager text that shows these).

There is a quite lengthy discussion of smallswords ongoing at another venue. There may be a comparable example better explained there, or at least a comraderie of wonderment. Soem repeated patterns are certainly easier to place in time and location.
