Mid-late XVth century, nut wood handle with mild steel guards (nailed on, not glued), 1075 full-quenched blade, tempered to light brown.
Hand-carved veg tanned leather scabbard, natural coloring (no modern dyes), inscriptions read as "dTdE/dijõ/HEMAC/MMVIII". Scabbard end of mild steel sheet, flame soft-soldered.
Commemorative dagger offered as a prize for the (now) traditional Saturday night Raffle of the VIIth International Historical Martial Arts Gathring in Dijon.
Only unhistorical part is the lower guard, made of one single steel sheet, rather than two '(' shaped langets forge-welded at their ends to leave a diamond-shaped opening for the blade shoulders to fit in.
Current location is now North England, with its happy new (lucky) owner - congrats Paul ! (and thanks for the pics).

Seriously, that scabbard is inspirational. I love the steel and timber work, but that type of leather decoration is just amazing. Both the design and the execution are very impressive.
