Hmm... this looks very much like a french sword I saw recently. Very pronounced quillons, with a diamond pommel, and the hilt looks french in styling. I would hazard a guess and say 14th - 16th century, french, maybe Charles V in style.
Maybe I'm wrong [ I probably am] but that would be my best guess. Hope that helps.
Nathan.

Thanks for the reply. French, eh? Interesting. I've seen similar crosses before, but I must admit this might be the first time I can recall seeing that pommel shape.
Are you sure you meant Charles V? I can find several pictures of a "Charles V sword" but non of them look even remotely like this one. Perhaps you meant Henry V?
Also, this sword looks pretty long. It's hard to tell from the angles but going by the handle's lenght I'd ballpark the blade to something like 35 inches. A cavallery sword, perhaps?

Thanks for the link Sean! That viking sword is fantastic! The clarity of pattern welding and detail on the hilt... WOW
Imagine a Patrick Barta replica of it !

"Pic 3: Sword."
Well, that's informative.
I note they also have one of those enormous broad-bladed things. Interesting.

Sorry, I was thinking of Henry V. [Actually I don't knoow WHAT I was thinking] I just looked at Charles V swords and your right, they look NOTHING like I had imagined. Again, sorry for the mix up.
Nathan.
