Photos of an unexpected encounter with swords etc.
Hi guys,

I was a few weeks ago in Luxembourg, while driving around there I decided to visit a castle. It was fantastic, no people were there, only a handful of medieval enthousiasts. In several rooms there were just swords and stuff laying around, just in the open. So I took some shots... have a look. I thought to see some swords on display neatly behind glass... but not like this... I was pleasantly suprised.

Great find!

My only question is... are they originals or reproductions. I recently found out that a lot of museums include modern reproduction weapons and armor in their displays. It is odd that they had them stored in their scabbards.
From the look of it they were the blades of the mentioned enthousiasts.
Kind odd that no one of them was guarding them. :wtf:
A lot of them look like Czech repro's from for an example Kovex Ars or Sword Gur. Cool pictures nonetheless though :).

Well Arne, I know of a museum in France were a whole bunch of TOP pieces are on display without ANY form of security whatsoever, not even security glaa!! Appearantly no budget was allocated to this whereas any one of the swords is worth about as much as a modern system 'protecting' all.....

This is nothing out of the ordinary as it is not at all customary to include maintenance and security in restauration projects etcetera.

Most of the ones in scabbards appear to be modern. Still, some cool pics.
