Greetings to everybody.

I got one question about sword knots, particularly those of the modern era swords with bowl guards. How were they attached to hilt and, more important, worn on the wrist? Are there any photos or images depicting their usage?

I'm interested in swords like british cavalry P1908 and officer's P1912 or infantry officer's P1897, US Patton sword M1913, and also Italian patterns with Settimo del Frate's "improved handle" (from 1871 onwards). All of them are supposed to be held "thumb up", like modern sport fencing sabre.

Need your help!
