Hello all,

Well like the topic title says, How it's made will be airing the show they taped at Albion earlier this year. It'll air this Friday, November 2nd at 9pm EST on Discovery Channel Science.

I, for one, appreciate the heads-up! I have it programmed to record on the DVR. Thanks again !

I did not see it listed on this date. Do you have an episode number?

Are you scared, Connor?
No, Cousin Dugal. I'm not!

Thanks for the notification Mike. Gary, I found it listed on the Science Channel (part of the Discovery network) at this link, for Friday Nov. 2 at 9 PM: "How It's Made" Season 4 episode 8. At this link I found a description:
The Science Channel wrote:

Swords, Pontoons, Grandfather Clocks, Fuses in a half hour. What's that, maybe five minutes for Albion? Still, that's much better than no minutes.

Hi Roger,

Have you ever seen the show? It's very formulaic: a super-condensed version of putting something together, narrated by one person (with no interviews), set to cheery electronic music (with no other recorded sound). I don't mean that in a very negative way, just that they're more snapshots than in-depth explorations, and are fun to watch but do leave one wanting a bit more. Maybe that's the point.

I do hope they emphasize all the research and consulting that goes into each model, though. Considering how much time and effort is expended on that aspect alone, it would be misleading to give it little to no screen time. But who knows, maybe they'll sneak in a shot of PJ taking notes on an antique. Happy One can hope...

The series "How It's Made" plays in re-runs on the DIscovery Channel (on basic cable). If you have basic cable, I'm sure you'll run across a re-run at some point.

Although I was aware of this, as this is one of select channels that I view daily and will be tuned in 8pm Central time on Friday. I was glad to see that this was posted in myArmoury!

Thanks Much, Mike!

I was quite impressed by the exacting methods that the blade blanks are produced prior to the tempering process and the talent that it takes to grind and hone the blades. Even more so the exacting by hand production of finishing the pommels and crossguards.
One thing for sure, the way the hilts are put together, they are never going to become loose Exclamation

I was thrilled to see that Albion was the very first filming that was put on TV tonight!

Sincerely,

Bob

I have checked my Discovery Channel out here in California. All night its episodes of Man vs. Wild, and a show called Dirty Jobs. Am I missing something? It is now 8pm PST, but my guide shows nothing tonight.

I just checked. It was on at 6pm my time. which corresponds to 9 pm EST. And yes i am embarrassed for not figuring that out. Some networks do run shows out here at the same hour asa they do on the east coast, or they miss prime time. So, I missed it. (I am holding up both fists and shaking them in the universal symbol of impotent rage).

I watched it about 10 times....I loved it. They make it look so easy!

My favorite part was the heat treat...watching them take that glowing orange blade out of the hot-pot (whatever they call it). It was beautiful.
