SFI has a practice partner finder that might help you, should your search for a school fail. Happy

I suppose you are aware of the EAMMA in Toronto... I think it might be the closest historical fencing school for you. I'm not aware of any school near Niagara Falls unfortunately...

AEMMA Guelph is the closest. http://guelph.aemma.org/

Our curriculum is built around the work of the late medieval Italian master Fiore dei Liberi. We also spent time on sword and buckler based on the anonymous I.33 manuscript.

Hope that helps,

Kel

Have you tried looking into the SCA?

Some of the members are really getting into historic martial arts vs just SCA fighting.

A lot of groups also have members that belong to other live steel orgs. I know here in Texas the SCA have started combat from horseback. I have not been to an event in a long time so I have not seen one.

Are you scared, Connor?
No, Cousin Dugal. I'm not!
Don't talk nonsense, man. I peed my kilt the first time I went into battle.
Oh, aye. Angus pees his kilt all the time!

SCA stands for the Society for Creative Anachronism. It's a reenactment group that as Allen's post implies is not necessarily 100% historical, but which may have more strictly historically-minded sub-groups. You'll have to do your own research on this front.
