Looking for fullering tool
Hi all!
I'm planning to make a fullering tool which could be used without a helper. Could you please post some simple tool designs?
Thank you!
Regards!
Hi here Marton, you can try the next site : www.iforgeiron.com. I think there i saw what you are looking for.
As soon as possible ill try to post those pictures i found on that site.
Thanks for posting that link.
It looks like a great site with a lot of information being offered for free.
Thanks for the link. I didn't find the tool yet, but this anvil helper http://www.iforgeiron.com/blueprints-000-100/...elper.html seems to be very useful!
Thanks again!
You can make one out of round stock, I'll try to get a pic of mine...
I edited the pics in (I think), the springs are mild steel and are held in with set screws which are drilled and tapped into the 3/4" round stock. There are flats filed into the springs for the set screws to tighten against, this helps keep it straight. I tend to use mild steel for anvil tools to avoid causing any further damage to my anvil face.

Justin,

That's a great design. I've made several attempts at such a tool. The main problems have been alignment shifting and welds failing with use. This seems to minimise both.

Damn. Now I'll have to make Mark VI.

Cheers

Tim

Yep. That's a fullering tool. Possibly the Rolls Royce of fullering tools.

It looks like the guide plate can be angled. Am I right?
Tim that is a great idea :!: , on this construction the guide plate cannot be angled but you could do that very easily!
By doing so the tool would allow you to make fullers on larger variety of blade designs.
I can't and i will not take the credit for this design, unfortunately i don't remember were i found those pictures :\, so i could send the designer (and maker) a pack of six beers
