I am looking for helms used by the muslim forces during the crusades<1100 to 1250>. I am in the SCA and want to do a Muslim crusade kit so I am looking for Helm Ideas so any pics or sources would help me out alot.
Thanks Dave H.

Most Middle-Eastern helms from that period are very, very fragmentary. Most surviving Turkish, Mamluk and Iranian helmets date from the 15th century onwards.
Try Nicolle's "ARMS AND ARMOUR OF THE CRUSADING ERA, 1050-1350: Islam, Eastern Europe and Asia".

There are of course many Osprey books on the subject which are much easier and cheaper to get hold of, but a small pinch pinch of salt is occasionally needed.
I have seen some pics of early 14th century helmets though, click on the thumbnails:

Please excuse the poor quality of the first two, they are poor quality photocopies from very old books.

Hisham,
Thank you for your response! Those are some nice pics and a very good starting point.
