looking for a cheaper practice cutter and drill sword. I am studying some old saber manuals and Scottish techniques.

These are what I have been looking

1796 cold steel or D general? Are these the same sword?
Dutch Cutlass windlass
Scottish Backsword (you know the older non basket hilted one) also by windlass. Can you find these any more?

I have read favorable or passable reviews on the above swords.

One I like the look of but haven't read anything on is this German hunting sabre

I have owned a cold steel 1796 in the past but I sold it towards another sword. I liked it quite a bit even though many find it heavy I did not think it overly so.

I am open to other suggestions as well.

Characteristics I am looking for:
Durability enough to safely do light cutting practice ie water bottles and jugs, and not break drills or a the occasion crappy cut
Length of 28 inches or more in blade length
a solid cutter
I have a thing for wide blades.
