Gen2, Generation2, Generation 2 sword test
I just thought I would let everyone know that Generation 2 will be testing a few of their sword tomorrow, and might have a post in about a week. They are going to test it against the Hand and a Half Hanwei Albrecht II functional version, as well as a windlass sword. So for those out there who are interested in how they fair up in rigorus testing this will be fun.

I am waiting for my own Gen2 sword of the third crusade, and plan on doing some heavier testing with it. So I will be sure to let everyone know how it holds up. The representative from Gen2 I talked to said they have improved the swords tempering process, and they should hold up even better.

I really liked the look of this sword. It almost reminded me of the swords used in the movie First Knight, but better.

I was told that on cutting a fairly large sappling tree, (took 4 or so swings to bring it down) that the sword bent on the first versions of the third crusade. They are more improved now, and it will be interesting to see how it holds up. The other great thing about this sword, is that they supposedly have a sword edge, no secondary bevel, and slice right through boxes and other similar targets. They also report to have a substantial tang that is peened over.

The Hand and a Half Albrecht II Hanwei sword I own doesn't have a really sharp sword edge. It would need a little work to get that razor appleseed edge. However on the edge of the Edward III sword that I own tapers down nicely to a sharp edge, and cuts right through Milk jugs and boxes without a problem. I once cut down a small tree, probably about 1.5 inches in diameter with my Edward sword. It did a superb job, and came out beautiful. I will save the details of that topic for another discussion.
