Opening Day at Renaisance Fair
Gayle and I had a wonderful day at the Renaissance Fair and met two fine "myArmoury" members there yesterday. We got to meet D. Rosen and Chris Last, Chris gave me a wondeful explanation and hands on experience of 14th thru 16th century firearms. I also was given the splendid opportunity to handle Chris's new Albion Talhoffer Sword, wow, it's the most fantastic thrusting sword I have ever held. A stout and thick blade that felt like a piece of heaven in my hands, I was more than a little impressed with the Talhoffer!
Chris also gave me a very insightful demonstration on a pike formation and what a zweihander can do to this battle situation

D. Rosen was a lot of help to me with some reading material references.

Of course I got to see my buddy David Peck over at the Arms & Armor store and acquired a nice Viking axe which I have become rather partial to.

A special thanks to Chris and D. Rosen for all the informative help and time you took for me, it was very much so a pleasure to have met both of you and will be seeing you all summer long.

There sure are a lot of exceptionally decent people in this website!

Sincerely,

Bob
I'm glad you & Gayle had a great time at the Faire, Bob !
Sounds like it was an educational experience as well, so kudos to our members Chris Last & D. Rosen for enlightening you !

Thanks for sharing, Bob

Hey Bob,

Which faire did you go to? Was it the Bristol faire in Kenosha? I go to that one quite a bit; hopefully this year. That's the only one I know where A&A has a booth (bought my Schloss Erbach there 6 years ago). I'm glad you had a good time and that Chris let you hold his Talhoffer. I have one myself; it sure is quite a thruster!
any pics?
Bristol is a nice one.
Bob-

It was great to finally meet you in person and have a chance to chat. I am very pleased with my new Talhoffer, as well as the rest of my collection that I've managed to pick up of the past few years. We had a great opening weekedn at Bristol with lots of families coming down to our camp wanting to learn. We had tons of comments about how great it was to have a free hands on experience where people could learn about real weapons. We're doing our best this year to incorporate as much western martial arts and hands on experience for folks so its great to hear that kind of feedback.

Next time you swing through I should have some more new toys to show off. :)
Bristol has a ship! OMG! That is so cool! Our home faire (CRF) has nothing of that scale. I hope one and all had a good time! Please post picts!

Chris, thank you for all the time you spent explaining the firearms and the zweihander vs pike formation, you will see me all summer long. In fact anyone who would like to meet me for what ever reason lol, just leave word at the Arms & Armor booth, I am by there several times a day, I tend to go to the fair on Saturdays.

I sure would like to meet fellow myArmoury members, so please leave word with David at the A&A booth, it's great to make new friends with fellow sword buffs.

Sincerely,

Bob
