Matchlock Musket Manfacturer Info
Hello,

I am with a local group called Clann Tartan. We currently have 2 matchlock muskets That where made by the same manufacturer. I believe that they are from out east <we are in minnesota>. One of the weapons is in need of work and we are thinking of getting more. I am looking for information on who may have maked these muskets. The barrels have a large K on the top of them.

Thanks
I'm sure Gordon will chim in here as well, but the K is the lock maker and is the guy who builds dixie Gun Works matchlokcks. I'm not sure if they still carry them but I got mine (Gordon is now the proud owner) back in the mid 90's and they still had them in the last catalog I saw that was about 5 -6 years old. Check DGW and see if they still have them.
Robert;

G Gedney Godwin, "The Sutler of Mt. Misery" markets these muskets currently. Here's the firearm in question on their website. It's a fine matchlock, though perhaps somewhat expensive.

You might also try John Buck:

He makes quite serviceable matchlocks for a very reasonable price.

There is a fair amount of discussion on such items at the Muzzleloadingforum, under "Pre-Flintlock Firearms", along with a list of modern makers of such items.

Good luck with your search!

Parts
The Rifle Shoppe has in the rough parts, probably any you need. Their parts, while orders take forever, can be made to fit original stuff too.
