In my trawling of my bookmarks, I have been unable to find a good source for sabatons. Any pointers? Also, how accurate would these be for circa 1350 AD?

you wont find much on plate sabs for that time period. maybe mail chausis, but not plate.

Addison plate as well as maille and scale are all shown on funery effigies from the mid 14th century((the monumental brass of sir Jhon d'Abernon c.1340 shown on page 78 of Arms and Armor of the Medieval Knight is just one example). There are a series of plates excavated from the Battle of Wisby fought in 1361 that are believed to be from the sort of plate foot defenses shown in the above mentioned brass. One of the "Four Lords of the Manor of Tewkesbury" frrom a mid 14th century stained glass window in Tewkesbury Abbey (p58 & 59 An Historical Guide to arms & Armor) has scale defenses for his feet. These are not true sabatons (there is a sabaton froma childs armour c.1390 from Chartres Cathedral but thats later than your looking for) but they were large and small palte defenses in use for the feet at the time your asking after.

Valentine Armouries, a Canadian company, will make a pair of Transitional sabatons like these custom fitted to your specification for $250 US. http://www.varmouries.com/tran_01.html

My own pair of Valentine sabatons is very well finished and highly functional, too.

Other companies sell a similar product for a lower price, but they will likely be one size fits all. I have a pair of Czech sabatons that are very inexpensive, but they are not fitted specially to my foot., and so are not nearly as useful.

Do be sure gents to wear properly pointy period (or period-styled) footwear beneath the sabaton, else the point of the armour will droop and tend to snag on grass and such.

Addison, what Steven and Christian said regarding the right footwear and being sized to you is pretty important. The cheaper ones you see on ebay and the like are just going to "look" like sabatons rather than perform like them for that reason. The earlier foot protection at least based on the Wisby plates (thier shapes ect.) seems to have worked different however. They seem to have been built "on" a garment like the gauntlets and coats of plates from the find. I've wondered if these were built onto the shoes themselves like the other armour from the pit was built on gloves, coats whathave you. Anybody know more about that?

That's great, thanks for the sites! I intend to at some point get period appropriate garments for a 14th century kit I'm hoping to start soon (to go with my NG Crecy), and footwear is around the top of the list to get.
