After reading the review by Nathan, it was love at first site with this sword. Then, right before the 2004
Atlanta Blade Show, Nathan put it up for sale and I knew I had to have it. Well, after having it since then and spending
alot of time with it, this sword has grown & continues as one of the favorite's in my collection.
A couple of weeks ago, I did a sword demo/presentation for a group and found myself continually going back to this sword in my demo. Sure, I had other swords there, but the MRL Scottish Back-sword just kept drawning my back to pick it up.
As Nathan stated in his review that it would never win any contests' against the "big boys" (Albion, A&A, Gus) it still is one heck of a sweet handling sword (as I'm sure Nathan has and can confirm ). Next to my Armour Class Mortuary, these two get brought out the most while doing these presentations and people are really chuffed about them.
Mind you, this is just a reflective observation on my part and hope it fits in with the content of this forum, I just felt the need to share my growing fondness & experience with a (IMO) fine sword.
It's one of MRL's dis-continued piece's, but if one ever has a chance to pick one up, go for it, don't think you'll regret it.
Cheers, (& thanks Nathan for letting it go) :D

I have to say that I truly do miss that sword. It was a hell of a buy. I say that because it was worth well more than I paid for it. When I still owned it, several people were able to handle and play with it that have had experience with a variety of different replica arms, including other examples of that same model. They each were quite pleased by it, with the biggest surprise being when compared to other samples of that sword from MRL. Iguess it just happened to be a really good example. The handling qualities are quite nice on that one! If you ever sell it, let me know. I hope you keep it, though.
Hey Nathan,
It's a definite keeper! My son just loves the companion dagger as well.
Like I said, the more I handle this sword, the more attached I'm become to it (or it gets attached to me).
Thanks lad, was hoping you'd chime in with your additional thoughts.
Cheers,
Bill

I wish I had scored one of those when they were going for a song. If I ever see one in the classifieds, I hope I see the ad first! Anyone seen any for sale anywhere?

It would be well worth searching out or keeping an eye open for one. I think it took me a bout 10 min. tops to snag the one I got from Nathan from the time he listed it as being up for grabs.
I've proudly got a hand on it here from a gathering i had over the summer with forumites Bill Grandy, Bob Busch, Chris Goerner, & Jason Elrod in attendence.

I also have one that I too love and am always swinging around. I chose to sharpen mine and it's a fantastic cutter. I wish I had asecond oen I could blunt and use in freeplay but they are indeed a rare bird.
