So, back in '96 I paid a visit to the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, England, and among their collection of artefacts I saw a knife blade which interested me then, and has persisted to do so. Essentially it is two blades, with a pivot point in-between which allows it to be spun around end-to-end through a wooden grip, giving access to two separate edges.
The design is essentially the same as the SOG "Revolver" - http://www.sogknives.com/revolver.htm -interesting in that SOG claims it to be a "new category" of blade, when clearly it's been around for quite some time ;). To my amusement, looking back through my journals, I found a sketch of the Jorvik blade and my comment next to it: "This concept presents great design possibilities. There is a market for this". I guess SOG thought so as well.
Anyway... my question.
Over the years I've looked now and then for information on this Viking piece but have found little. I have even been told that there was a replica/reproduction made of it by someone, but I have never found or seen that either. If anyone has any information on the original piece, especially photos, drawings, etc., or of this purported replica (or any replica thereof) I would be most glad to hear of or see it.
