Okay, so this may sound like a very ridiculous question, but it's been bugging me. When you oil a sword, do you completely dry the blade? Or, do you leave a thin layer on the sword for protection? No one has ever told me the "right" way to oil a sword, and, seeing as how I know one guy who is seriously into swords, I guess it isn't that surprising. I live in California so it's really not that vital, but I would just like to know. Thanks for any help you can give.

I use wax, not oil, but I have read on here that if your oil rag is not seasoned enough it will dry the blade to much, and rust will apppear. Once its seasoned a wipe/dry leaves the right amount behind.
