[img]a friend was digging a footer in ST. Augustine Florida last Friday and found this sword. we know nothing about it and was looking for someone that might know something. any help would be appreciated
It looks like a shamshir. I would be surprised if it were antique, but I don't know enough about shamshirs to say.
The grip definitely looks like it came from a Persian or Turkish shamshir but the blade is too short. My first guess is that the blade was broken and reground but would need to see more photos of the tip and the fuller. If the fuller continues right to the point then it is likely that the blade was originally longer and had been broken.
