Question: anyone have any primary sources describing the appearance of French artillerists in the Italian Wars period, especially between 1510-30? When landsknechts are depicted crewing guns they are typically unarmoured, but the few period illustrations I’ve seen of French gunners show them in heavy armour. Any thoughts?
