When I saw this article, it made me smile. Everyone seemed to have a good attitude about it.
Reminds me of a mid 1970s find, where a boy found a Saxon sword in a stream while hunting for tadpoles.
It's known as the Gilling Sword, and is now in the Yorkshire Museum.

When I was a kid, the only submerged artifact I stepped on was a broken bottle. That did not end so well. :(

I can't imagine how something can just sit there for so long and no one comes across it at all. I feel like we live in a crowded world but there's apparently much that goes long periods undisturbed by us.
