Hello,
I was wondering if anyone happened to know if there is still a store in Toledo, Spain selling antique arms? When I was there a few (ten) years ago I happened on one.. Most of the stores sell loads and loads of wall hangers and cheap Murillo knives. But I happened on an Antique store selling things like Spanish Civil War bayonets, 18th/19th century Navajas, and a few 17th century swords/daggers, and some 19th century percussion lock rifles. Actual antiques, out of my budget at the time, but which I might be able to afford now.
I can't for the life of me, however. find it, and I'm guessing he closed shop. But if this rings any bells, or anyone knows a website/street address.. I would appreciate it! Or any other antique stores in Toledo which might have (authentic) arms/
Thanks!
Z
I haven't bought a sword in my life, so I can't truly recommend any shop in Toledo or anywhere, but this look nice to me:

I was in Toledo last year and almost everything was fantasy looking even if functional (that is to say, not very historical - but I am not an expert on Spanish arms). It seems that is what they are catering to these days. I wasn't really there to do sword shopping but I had a look when a shop seemed interesting and I was pretty much universally disappointed. I think if I was going this route I would have to do massive research and probably venture far off the beaten path. I'm sure somebody in Toledo is keeping up the tradition in the purest sense, however. So, if you want to go this route make sure you spend a LOT of time looking into this otherwise you might be disappointed. I'd recommend having a very clear idea of exactly what you want and starting from there.
