this is just a poll to see peoples favorite viking styled swords.

I've always had a little thing for Albion's The Vittfarne sword. Such a handsome thing. :)

I've had a love affair with the Caywood Sword for a long time. Basically anything like that or Albion's Caithness - lobated pommels and unusual cross guards of the late Viking era.

Here's a hybrid of mine using the Caithness hilt parts and a Kingdom of Heaven/Windlass blade:

I like Jake Powning's Vidirhrafn - Willowraven. It takes the cake for me; I love single-edged viking swords.

I never met a seax of any length that I didn't like.

I greatly like several types of Viking sword. But for me, nothing says "classy Viking" like the slightly curved upper and lower guards and multi-lobed pommel of a Peterson Type S hilt, especially when it incorporates twisted wire into the design. In this category, I am particularly attracted to Albion's Jarl.

My favourite hilt style is the Petersen Type H (like the Albion Hersir)

I was thinking of starting a thread on this topic, then I saw one already existed!

I particularly like the Petersen Type R pommels. There's something especially elegant about them. Although the Viking era is not especially of interest to me, if I could have another Viking sword, it would probably be a Type R.

It would be great to hear more of others' responses. I think there are a lot of Viking era enthusiasts who have not posted in this thread yet...

Migration and Viking Age swords are my favorites. I like all the Viking styles, it's hard to choose just one, but probably the Petersen type B and H get my top vote at the moment. Something about the rugged simplicity of this style, especially with some inlay, that appeals to me. This one in a museum in France is a particularly striking and well-preserved example:

I'm also very fond of the late/transitional types - type AE, Z, Oaekshott M.

i must say i really like the peterson type Z https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/452893306248217704 such as this wonderful swoird, the quillons and pommel have a quite pleasing shape and the combination of blued fittings and bone grip set each other nicely with the composite pattern welded/ carbon steel blade

I would have to say that this style of sword by Rob Miller of Castle Keep, is my personal favourite.

I've never been that interested in swords that predate the First Crusade. But I do have an Albion Migration Type D sword that grows on me more every time I touch it. Too bad it's no longer in production. It's an excellent piece of work & makes me wonder about the qualities of the originals that inspired it..
