so.. ive been looking at the sparth axe, and looking for dimensions and stats such as weight, i found a tantalising clue for someone who may have done the groundwork https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/3c/27/8d/3c278dfaf29a0d33ebfe406f309252dc.jpg the problem is that all the text is far too small to be read, does anyone know where its from, and similarly, what size were sparth axes, i.e height width, thickness etc
If I remember correctly there are literally references for blades of a foot in length mounted on 6 foot hafts.
A78.1990, Clonteevy, Co Tyrone; figs 14, 17.
13.5; 29.1; 3.0 x 1.9; 831.7 gms.
I think this is the same head.

I should have posted the key as well...
Two similar axes in the article have ~30cm blades. Weights vary quite a bit.

Dimensions are given, in centimetres, in the order length (measured horizontally on the long axis), width of cutting edge (measured in a straight line), and internal dimensions of shaft-hole |
