Hello, recently I started taking interest in smallswords, and I'm very fond of this type of guardplate with holes http://www.manningimperial.com/catalogue/swor...heimer/263 (I know it's a rapier, not a smallsword, but it represents what I mean fairly well). Does anyone know examples, bost of reproductions as well as antiques of such guards of smallswords? If so I would be very grateful.

Though pierced guards are not at all uncommon on small swords, I think such simple holes are.

If you browse online auctions (this one is from HH), museum websites, or even galleries at this website - http://myArmoury.com/albums/thumbnails.php?album=55 - you´d find loads of them. They would usually come from second half of the 17th century, or later.
