I need some help with a sword
I have an acquaintance that owns this sword and asked me for some help with it and frankly Civil War stuff is outside of my area of interest.
Could you give me your opinions on this sword please?

It looks quite nice David. The condition is commensurate with the date, as being likely never issued. Although we see even later Ames mounted artillery swords, the trend of favor goes to the early ACW years. The condition on this one about as good as it gets.
Tom Nardi's price sheet is still fairly valid. I'll check the insector name next time I'm up by the book....a federal inspector that worked with more than just Ames. http://swordrestorationtn.com/values.htm Cheers GC |
