Hello, I'm looking for more information on this particular harness. I eventually would like to have a suit custom made similar to this design and I would like to know more about it. I believe it's from the 16th century, however I do not know the country of origin. It also seems like a museum piece (maybe from the St. Petersburg Artillery museum?)
Any info I could get would be extremely helpful.
Thanks

I believe it's from the collection of the new york metropolitan museum.

nice pictures :D
there`s nothing better than decent mid/late 15th cent. armour.
sadly it comes a bit short here.

Those are two different armors. The top one is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It was made by Kunz Lochner in Nuremberg, around 1549. I am actually having a harness made for me based on that armor right now. The lower one appears to have similar form, but it is a different armor (pay attention to the pauldrons, the shield, embossing and etching, etc.). That lower picture looks familiar to me, but I'm not sure where that armor is located.
The second harness is in Kansas City, Missouri, and is a fine example of a North Italian harness c. 1560, except for the helm, which is German. I feel like a complete idiot for never having noticed that before. The harness on foot next to it has an Italian helm, though.

Yes! It's at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. It mesmerized me as a child. It's been a couple years since I have visited the museum, but I assume it is still on display. They also have a very nice set of Japanese armor.
If you ever find yourself in K.C., the Nelson is definitely worth a visit.
