A small contingent of Fitzjames Horse was present at Culloden. In 2008 (I think) Bonham's auctioned off a cavalry saber marked for Firzjames that had possible Culloden connections. Unfortunately, the pictures from the 2008 auction have been disabled. Does anyone possibly have a picture of illustration of this sword? Thanks - as always - in advance!

I would not have expected German swords. Sword blades, sure, but not the hilts. Pretty wild!

In agreement with Jonathan. I was expecting a basket , a slot hilt, or something else English. But not a completely German sword!

are you sure its german ?
from the style it could likewise be austrian
or danish
or from some other central/northern european country of the 1700ies

It definatly looks like an Austrian style hilt to me.
