I've recently been putting together a living history group to represent a small farming household around the Staraja Ladoga settlement around the year 800CE. The goal is to be as accurate to the material culture as possible, with special care taken to avoid "reenactorisms". The problem is I can't seem to find vendors who produce spear and ax heads that are actually made of iron like the originals. The closest I have found are these spearheads http://medievalcraft.eu/index.php?k8,weapon,1 ,but they appear to be more representative of later medieval weapons. Also, no ax heads. Anyone have any ideas? Bonus points if you also know a good source for late Iron Age wood working tools!
