My first post and so be gentle with me, ;-)

I have a sword, it has been in my family for many years and owned my father who was a Vicar. I am not sure if it is ceremonial or ever had a use or anything about it and so am seeking as much information as possible. I have attached two images below and any input would be gratefully received.

The rounded tip and apparent lack of a sharpened edge lead me to believe it's a training or stage sword. Couldn't really speculate as to age, other than "relatively modern".

These bowtie guards start to show up in the 18th century for fraternal swords in the UK. Certainly a ceremonial or social dress wear type. Perhaps a mourning sword and that guess based on the grip and pommel. As late as the late 19th century or even newer. A study and research of the man might lead to more information.. Mourning swords were common and often of a more elaborate smallsword, Some very old swords were blackened for that purpose. Scabbards almost always leather, so it is no surprise to see them absent. A Freemason or Scottish Rite sword would likely to have some other decoration/emblem. It is very possible he used it during memorial processions.
