Hi I am working on learning more about the most common style of German swords from 1390-1430. Thanks
I'd recommend starting by reading the Spotlight articles on the Oakeshott types, found on our Features page. You'll get overviews of various types and those articles will discuss era and locale and show examples.
I can tell you for sure that Type XVII fits that era nicely and a number of examples are Germanic in origin.

Ya I found an article some place that mentioned the Type XVII and Germany. And it fits well with much of the art from the time. The confusing thing is there seems to be lots of overlap in style of swords used. And then a lot of varation inside each style. But always fun to study and read about :)
