I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to get everything sorted out. At least they might have a backup of the site/content somewhere.

This sucks.... I am so sorry that you got bit by one of the oldest tricks in the Internet book - Cybersquating.

Usually occurs when domain renewal is up... and someone beats you to it. ALWAYS renew a Domain Name a good month before it expires.

There is good news - consider contacting the Internic at http://www.internic.net/faqs/domain-names.html - an excerpt:

"Someone else has registered my company's name as a domain name. What is the process for resolving my complaint?

All ICANN-accredited registrars follow a uniform dispute resolution policy. Under that policy, disputes over entitlement to a domain-name registration are ordinarily resolved by court litigation between the parties claiming rights to the registration. Once the court rules who is entitled to the registration, the registrar will implement that ruling. In disputes arising from registrations allegedly made abusively (such as "cybersquatting" and cyberpiracy"), the uniform policy provides an expedited administrative procedure to allow the dispute to be resolved without the cost and delays often encountered in court litigation. I've had to deal with this before... the short answer: people "cybersquat" legitimate companies to extort money from them in order to "restore" their domain. Pay NO ONE. Use WHOIS to find out who stole your domain - file an ICANN complaint, with these records. Bury the bastard.

Worst thing is that it's on auto renewal and seems there was just a billing error that the registrar never bothered to bring up.

It was brought to our attention that the current squatter has implemented some sort of malware on the site. Please do not go visit the old domain if/until the situation is resolved. New Venture Services Corp which seems to be be a shell company specializing in this. Its also pretty clear that not too many people like them and they've been making a business of this for quite some time. Actually seems to be some confusion about who the entity is but this some discussion seems to indicate these guys are outside the US. Most of the ransoms posted actually seem to be reasonable enough to be mainly annoying but not always the case with business and high traffic names. Good luck!

Tell you the truth it would be much easier to stick my head in a bader B-3 but these folks already took my beloved site which James made for me out of friendship, so that is blood. Gonna get it back and decide after I talk with lawyer and James maniana who lives and who dies, who laughs and who, you know the rest:) Some heads are gonna roll, I kid you not! They are selling imported stainless swords on my old web and that means war. Again please folks stay away from that site as it could be viral.

We just decided to buy my domain site back from those creeps. Thanks everyone for your support at this time. I feel much better after wanting to get my fingers wet so badly. It can still be a great year chin up and alive:)
