odinblades domaine
Hi If you are looking for odinblades.com it's gone and sold to some weird company who bought it through auction from my domaine supplier. There was a slight billing problem which was rectified quickly but not quick enough I guess, as they auctioned it off toot sweet and told noone it was happening. So,,, I'm pretty t-o ed. If You need to contact me please go to www.longshiparmoury.com and James can take care of you or call me direct (845)355-2968. Odinblades is my copywriten manufactures name for over 15 years so this is a real painful thing. What if I loose all them pics gonna hell to pay I assure you. I appreciate everyone who has supported me all these years John Lundemo
John,

I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to get everything sorted out. At least they might have a backup of the site/content somewhere.
This sucks.... I am so sorry that you got bit by one of the oldest tricks in the Internet book - Cybersquating.

Usually occurs when domain renewal is up... and someone beats you to it. ALWAYS renew a Domain Name a good month before it expires.

There is good news - consider contacting the Internic at http://www.internic.net/faqs/domain-names.html - an excerpt:

"Someone else has registered my company's name as a domain name. What is the process for resolving my complaint?

All ICANN-accredited registrars follow a uniform dispute resolution policy. Under that policy, disputes over entitlement to a domain-name registration are ordinarily resolved by court litigation between the parties claiming rights to the registration. Once the court rules who is entitled to the registration, the registrar will implement that ruling. In disputes arising from registrations allegedly made abusively (such as "cybersquatting" and cyberpiracy"), the uniform policy provides an expedited administrative procedure to allow the dispute to be resolved without the cost and delays often encountered in court litigation. In these cases, you can invoke the administrative procedure by filing a complaint with one of the dispute-resolution service providers listed at <http://www.icann.org/udrp/approved-providers.htm>. For more details on the uniform dispute resolution policy, see <http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.htm>, and the FAQs at <http://www.internic.net/faqs/udrp.html>."

I've had to deal with this before... the short answer: people "cybersquat" legitimate companies to extort money from them in order to "restore" their domain. Pay NO ONE. Use WHOIS to find out who stole your domain - file an ICANN complaint, with these records. Bury the bastard.
Worst thing is that it's on auto renewal and seems there was just a billing error that the registrar never bothered to bring up.

It was brought to our attention that the current squatter has implemented some sort of malware on the site. Please do not go visit the old domain if/until the situation is resolved. As John mentioned, feel free to reach us at longshiparmoury.com (e-mail is swords@longshiparmoury.com) or call him directly.
That blows the big one, guys ...

Hey, if you DO lose a number of pictures ? I'll be more than happy to provide you
with pictures of my swords you made. I think I may have a few of your pics in my files
as well.

Just let me know ... B-)
New Venture Services Corp which seems to be be a shell company specializing in this. Its also pretty clear that not too many people like them and they've been making a business of this for quite some time. Actually seems to be some confusion about who the entity is but this some discussion seems to indicate these guys are outside the US. Most of the ransoms posted actually seem to be reasonable enough to be mainly annoying but not always the case with business and high traffic names. Good luck!

Another option within the United States is the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1125(d). ACPA is a legal procedure that entitles a successful plaintiff to both equitable (ie. restoring the domain) and legal (monetary) remedies, but involves the expense of litigation. ICANN's UDRP is an administrative procedure that is cheaper but is only equitable; it doesn't grant money damages. You'll have to make a strategic decision about what kind of remedy you feel you're owed.

If the other party is outside the US, it's probably more practical to use UDRP. I'm actually considering doing this now for some US friends who've had trouble with non-US registrants using their trademark in infringing domain names.
Thanks for all the valuable information guys. Tell you the truth it would be much easier to stick my head in a bader B-3 but these folks already took my beloved site which James made for me out of friendship, so that is blood. Gonna get it back and decide after I talk with lawyer and James maniana who lives and who dies, who laughs and who, you know the rest:) Some heads are gonna roll, I kid you not! They are selling imported stainless swords on my old web and that means war. Again please folks stay away from that site as it could be viral.

Good luck John. Aside from the domain, your website itself (html pages and pictures) ought to be on a separate hosted account (unless they were tied together) and your data should be housed there... If anyone you had working on the site was accessing it via FTP check if they can still get in there.

Another option is to use the archive.org service to manually download all of your photos, such as here: http://web.archive.org/web/20101125203112/htt...index.html

Major pain but at least you have a way to get the pictures back.

Hi Lance. Turns out it is missing several pictures still and three full albums of music from the mighty "Silent Kings" which really hurt. That God my brother has back up for those and James has our new song "Sweet Cherry Wine" on our apple almost ready for the internet. Can't wait to do some cool stuff with this song. The Odinblades name is mine again and that is a relief. I'm working hard on finishing Odin orders and getting the Longship Armoury Silvia orders done and they are just about ready to ship. We have 30 high quality matts for cutting and sword testing vids as well. Making a new cutting stand and getting pumped. Gonna test the crap out of a 1095 Silvia. Get back to ya soon about that thanks;)
I can echo the pain of losing the music records. Hope you recover them soon.
