I noticed in Jean Froissart's well known painting of the battle of Crecy, on what appears to be the english side, there is a soldier who looks to have brig sleeves--not just covered spaulders, but actual sleeve sleeves, painted on his arms like some sort of ancient armored Underarmour. While it's unlikely that it was than snug (everything in the painting is skin-tight), it is an interesting idea. Has anyone found any brasses or sculptural evidence of these? Are they just splinted bracers? If not, would the elbows just be a smaller internal cop?
