The poplar core was carved out and finished with a riser pattern that mirrors the complex geometry of the Dane itself. It was wrapped in 2-3oz top grain leather, and dyed a deep antique oxblood which I mix up myself. I then gave the risers a lighly worn finish, which allows some of the natural leather color to show through, and this color just so happens to match color of the grip of the sword perfectly. I then bound some decorative winds of silver wire around the scabbard and fixed them with a nickel tack in order to match the grip - adding just a little bit of accent.
We did not do a suspension on this one for the obvious reason, this beautiful sword is huge. You'd have to be 8ft tall to draw it...
A pretty simple affair with just enough detail to put the package together nicely.
