Kris Cutlery
Once again, I'm finally looking to purchase a sword, I have several options picked out, among them is the Kris Cutlery Chinese Dao Sword, even though chinese swords are not really my biggest area of interest. I have heard very little about Kris Cutlery, however, and so i decided to ask here for and opinions.
Has any one dealt with them?
what are they like, and most importantly what is there product like?
I am i going to be buying something thats worth the money, or is it just a high priced piece of junk?
any help would be awsome. Thanks in advance.

Kris Kutlery
Hi JC ...

I've owned and parted with a number of Kris Kutlery items -- katana, knight's sword, gladius.
KK gives you a great deal of bang for your bucks. Their items are solidly made and those who
own them and have discussed them in other forums have always said positive things about
their ability to perform. If anything, the no nonsense designs and executions MIGHT be seen
as plain and even dull; but KK has worked hard at improving their models. At the price they
ask, you can't go wrong. Their service is also very good. B-)

Why did I part with my items ? Interests change, and a desire to have more customized pieces
prevail with me these days ....
That Darn Dao....
... is a heck of a cutter. I've seen one in action; 1/4 inch plywood sustained some fairly impressive cuts. And it could cleave pop bottles just as well. Balance is kind of blade-heavy, IIRC, but not too bad.
I currently own a KC gladius. It cuts amazingly well -- out of proportion to it's size, I'd say.

Kris Cutlery stuff is a heck of a deal for the money.
Wow! thanxs everyone for the input, it sounds like they have a heck of a product. if anyone wants to add anything to what has been said, feel free, im intrested in getting as much info as i can.
:)
Well, i went ahead and ordered a Kris cutlery piece today after much thought though i went with something very different then what i originally intended.
I chose to go with Roman Gladius!

i'm very excited, i plan on posting pics when it come in.
thanks every one for your help :D

Good choice! It's a nice little sword and an impressive performer.
In terms of historical accuracy it's not perfect (the brass gaurd plate should be inset into the top of the "gaurd", and the scabbard should be covered in leather) but it's pretty close (and those things can be remedied with a little effort, if it's a concern). Also, scabbard fit can be quite loose -- mine is.

Other than that, it's tough to beat.
